hr officer (28-32 hours)
what will your day look like?
you start your day around 9:00 with a warm cup of coffee or tea, greet your colleagues, and catch up for a moment. you open your laptop and check in with your hr teammates to align on the day’s priorities. you see a few employment contracts have been signed—great! you immediately save them in the digital personnel files and update the changes in our hr system. that’s already a part of your monthly payroll prep done and out of the way.you check your to-do list and prioritize the day. some new international colleagues are starting soon, so you verify the expiry dates of their residence permits and prepare renewal requests. at the same time, you help one of the new hires complete their 30% ruling application, and you process everything neatly into our systems. you also take care of their registration in our erp and our benefits system, ensuring everything is ready before day one.you touch base with the recruiter and facility officer to prepare for the upcoming onboarding day. since you’ll be hosting it, you're responsible for making sure new hires feel welcome and well-informed—guiding them through our organization, explaining policies and culture, and providing them with essential materials like the employee handbook. meanwhile, the hr system flags a few contracts that are nearing their end. you reach out to the managers to discuss extensions or exits, draft the necessary documents (contracts, addenda, or termination letters), and process any related changes—like promotions, salary adjustments, or special arrangements—in all the relevant systems.after a tasty lunch (think fresh salads, warm soup, and good sandwiches), you join a few quick teams calls with managers to answer questions about payslips, leave requests, or absenteeism. someone needs a working-abroad confirmation letter—you take care of that, along with checking on an a1 statement and a pending sabbatical request. you also consult with the financial controller to finalize payroll, making sure all salary components, benefits, mobility allowances, and other elements are accurately reflected.in the afternoon, you focus on parental and maternity leave cases. you collect necessary documentation, communicate with the employee and manager, submit requests to the uwv, and update the balances. you also note that it's time to share the formal bi-annual leave balance update with employees.next, you switch gears to support learning & development. you review and update the l&d and kick-start planning, confirm bookings, align with trainers, and prepare participation lists. you send out feedback surveys from recent sessions and gather input to improve future trainings. you also update relevant policies and documents as part of ongoing hr communication efforts.toward the end of the day, you conduct an exit interview, gather feedback, and update the exit survey data. you ensure the employee is properly offboarded—finalizing documentation, removing them from systems, and, if applicable, deregistering their visa with the ind. before wrapping up, you finish your part of an ongoing hr project—maybe something like improving workflows, organizing digital personnel files, or helping prepare for a mail merge. you draft the internal hr newsletter, review your to-do list for tomorrow, and schedule any remaining tasks. then, maybe you squeeze in a quick game of table tennis with a colleague before logging off around 17:00–17:30.tomorrow you’ll work from home, but on monday, the whole hr team will be back in the office for the weekly catch-up.
ideally, you…
hold a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent level) and at least 1 year of experience in a hr office role.
have a solid foundation in dutch labor law.
are systems savvy
communicate fluently in both dutch and english, written and spoken.
are service-minded, detail-focused, and proactive.
work well in a dynamic environment and enjoy being the go-to person for all employee related questions
what's in it for you:
a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits package and performance based bonus structure.
a solid onboarding program and training on the job to get you up and running in hr in no time
permanent position after successful temporary (1-year) appointment.
27 holidays per year, 8% holiday allowance, a pension plan and a lease bike plan
laptop
learning & development opportunities
flexible working arrangements, including location-independent workoptions
lease bike plan
healthy lunches at the office
great colleagues, a pleasant, fun and supportive work environment and lots of social activities.
a friendly, professional and dynamic working environment that values independence, entrepreneurship, and self-development.
